Do you ever feel... like you're being bullied?

What Is Bullying?
Bullying is quite common amongst young people & can be a major problem It is aggressive behaviour that is intended to intimidate or persecute other people through threats or superior force.

Bullying can take many forms:

Name calling
Teasing
Spreading unkind stories & rumours
Disagreements

Bullying can also be physical:

Pushing
Hitting
Kicking
Fighting

The important thing to remember is that any form of bullying can be disturbing for the person being bullied.

Why do people Bully?
Some may bully because they enjoy the sense of power and feel that they can get away with is. They may or may not understand or care how much it hurts to be bullied - and they may think the bullied person deserves or 'is asking for it'.

Some bullies, may be bullied themselves and many have been badly treated in their families. They then deal with their own fears by frightening others.

Bullying Does Matter
Sometimes it can be hard for adults to understand the distress and misery bullying causes. Being bullied can make you feel horrible inside - as if there is something wrong with you. It is vital that you talk to someone you can trust, if no one knows, then no one can help you.

Try not to be on your own. Stay with other people.
Tell your friends or an adult.
Keep asking for help until things are sorted out.
Remember everyone has the right to be respected.
